The State Fair

Saturday morning Brianna and Anna (and Donna) headed over to the church for a achievement day girls Mommy-daughter breakfast. The stake provided a yummy breakfast of fruit and muffins, cinnamon rolls, and breads. There was a little presentation with stories of girls who had upheld good standards, courage, honor, endurance, etc. What fun time for all the women and girls to be able to get together and spend some girl time.

That afternoon the 4 of us headed downtown for a day of fun at the state fair!! Earlier this summer Brianna received a flyer that said if she read 10 books and mailed a list of them to the fair she would get free admission, a free carnival ride, and a free drink. We were so excited for an excuse to go. Friday as we were visiting Grandma Rosalie at her office a co-worker of hers invited us to park in her driveway since she lived so close to the fairgrounds. We were excited about the thought of not having to pay the $6 for parking, or have to pay for Brianna's ticket, and on top of that we found a $2 off coupon for an adult admission! woohoo!! As we walked up to the ticket booth we were shocked to find out that adult tickets were $9 a piece. No more than 10 seconds after Josh voiced his frustration, an anonymous man approached us, slipped a ticket into Josh's hand, and walked away before we realized what had just happened. What a blessing!!

So after paying our $7 dollars to get in the gate, we set off to explore the fair. our first stop was to see all the animals. Cows, goats, pigs.

After we had our fill seeing and smelling the animals, we decided to try some of the "Fair" food. Josh had been looking forward to trying the chocolate covered bacon, so we made sure we found some to taste.

We also had some deep-fried Oreo cookies. DELICIOUS! Who'd have thought?

After we played at the fair and as we were walking to our car we walked by the fire station. There were a couple of firemen sitting out in their driveway talking to people as they left the fair. Brianna got a chance to talk to the firemen and sit in the drivers seat. She decided that was her absolute favorite part about going to the fair. :)

After not seeing each other all week long it was nice to spend a day of fun together.

I love this story of your family going to the state fair. How often is it that we forget that the Lord truly cares and watches over us even in things that may seem a bit trivial. Thank you for reminding me of this. Thank you for your examples of diligence as you deal with the challenges of life! I sure love you guys!
